The Sound of Waves
For as long as he could remember, he had been enamoured with the sound of waves crashing against the shore. It was a sound that could transport him to another world, a world where he was free to dream and wander.
Whenever he felt lost or unsure of his path in life, he would close his eyes and listen to the sound of waves. It was a constant that never failed to ground him and remind him of the bigger picture.
But tonight, as he slept, the sound of waves took on a different meaning. It was no longer a calming presence, but a foreboding one.
The waves seemed to roar in his ears, a deep and angry sound that sent shivers down his spine. He tried to block it out, to focus on more pleasant thoughts, but the sound only grew louder and more insistent.
He felt a sudden urge to run, to escape whatever danger was approaching. And then he heard it - a voice, faint and distant, calling out to him.
He strained to hear it over the sound of the waves, but it was too far away. And then, as suddenly as it had started, the sound stopped. He opened his eyes, disoriented and confused.
It was just a dream, he told himself. But the unease lingered, and he couldn't shake the feeling that the sound of waves would never sound quite the same again.
